Day 5 Activity 2

Yusuf Mardini was women born in Syria. She left because of war and headed out with her sister and two others. Unfortunately their boat broke down. But she swam over for help and saved 20 lives. She has represented the Refugee team in Rio Olympics 2016. She is now in Berlin Germany and is training for  Tokyo.

  1. Kia Ora Joe,

Yusra’s story is very inspiring, and she is definitely someone to look upto. I really liked reading your retelling of her story and I think you made sure all the important parts of her story were told!

Competing in the olympics would be such a great and exciting experience! The Olympic games are going to be happening again this year! Will you be watching any of the games on T.V?
Would you ever want to go to the Olympics and compete? If yes, what sport would you compete in?

The Olympic games are in Tokyo this year, have you ever been? Would you want to go to Japan someday? Is there anything you would want to visit/see there?
