Ice Cream Wednesday 6th January Summer Learning Journey

Kia Ora Today I learned how to say some ice cream flavours in maori. It is pretty cool how we are learning these things in maori. It helps my maori and my confidence in using it because I learn a bit more and then speak more fluently.  My slide will be at the bottom of the blog. In the slide is a poster of the flavours I learnt. My favourite flavour is not on their because it did not show the maori version for it in translator.

Te pai hoki o to mahi e hoa! You have done a good job my friend. It sounds like you are really enjoying these māori activities, I love that it is helping you build confidence.

Jelly tip used to be my favorite ice cream too, I think jelly tastes so good! Maybe instead of thinking about translating the word jelly tip you could think about the flavours used to make jelly tip. Like this.
    Raspberry: Rāhipere.
    Chocolate: Tiakarete.
    Vanilla: Wanira.
Then you would say “He wanira, tiakarete me te rāhipere” for your flavour.

I really like māori for this reason, it is fun, creative and there is no wrong way to express something.

    I hope that was helpful.

    Ngā mihi,
    Kiana-Marino
